Current Information on Proposed State Legislation, Policy Position Papers, and Other Resources
Hundreds of bills are introduced in state legislatures every year that have the potential to severely impact the accounts receivable management (ARM) industry. ACA International, ACA’s Unit and State Affairs Committee, and ACA State and Regional Units work tirelessly to ensure that state policymakers, both legislators and regulators, understand how proposed laws and regulations affect the industry to ensure policy at the state level reasonably balances state interests with effective debt collection.
The key to legislative and regulatory success is having the proper background on an issue, the right legislative and regulatory contacts, and the correct approach—whether pushing a bill drafted by the unit, supporting or opposing an existing bill, or challenging proposed licensing regulations.
In this regard, ACA provides information on proposed state legislation as well as policy position papers and other resources to advocate for the ARM industry.
